Blessed Mabon!

Hi, I just wanted to drop in quickly and wish everyone a happy autumn equinox. With mercury in retrograde right now, things have been a little crazy, and I know that I need to take a step back and honor the earth, and I'm sure some of you do as well. This is a good day for giving thanks to the Lord and Lady, and welcoming the dark half of the year (whether we want it to come or not, lol). Use the time from now until Samhain to accept, love, and embrace the dark aspect, and to mentally, physically, and spiritually prepare yourself for the dark. Today is a great day for meditation and introspection.
Have a blessed Mabon everyone!
Blessed Be,

999

So, I had to post something today, 9/9/09. I've heard a lot of takes on it, I've heard some people say that it doesn't or shouldn't have significance because the calendar is man-made. I think that it has as much significance as you want it to have. All things that have significance do so because we make it so. We assigned attributes to the number nine in the first place, or the number three (the triple goddess, the holy trinity, etc). I believe that numbers, words, symbols, have great power, because we give them power, both mystical and mundane. Think about the swastika. It is originally found in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain images, as a symbol for well being. Now, it is associated with hate, violence, racism, terror, and genocide. The meaning of the symbol changed, because of human influence.
My point is, all symbols, words, numbers, etc are meaningful if you want them to be. So, if 999 is meaningful to you, then great. If it isn't, that's ok too.
9 is my favorite number, because it consists of three sets of three. So 999 is three sets of three sets of three. So I like to think of today as good luck, because my favorite numbers are in alignment. So I'm going to draw on that good luck energy, and use it to increase my happiness, health, and prosperity.
Blessed Be,

Harvest Moon

Hello everyone! I hope that you all had a wonderful Harvest moon! This month's full moon was in Pisces, and that usually makes me feel a little crazy, but this year it was strangely calming. Last night, I cooked for Nick and my parents. It was great, I made oven fried chicken breasts and homemade broccoli mac and cheese (and brownies, but those were from a mix). I really enjoyed cooking for them, because I like to see people happy when they have good food. I really felt (and continue to feel) thankful for my family, and for the comfort and love that I have. It was a really great night, I felt so grounded and safe. Ironically, I never did look at the moon last night, which is kind of funny. It doesn't matter though, it was a good night, and I feel like I'm prepared for Mabon and the dark half of the year. Last year, I think I tried to push the darkness away (for some reason), and pined for spring the whole time. I enjoyed my spring and summer, but I guess I'm not dreading the fall this year.
I am going to go and harvest the last of my herbs in the next few days, and then dry them, and get ready for the cold. September's herb of the month is going to be coming up soon, this month it is Chamomile. I would love suggestions for October, so let me know if you want me to feature anything specific.
I hope that you feel blessed as the first leaves of autumn fall down from the trees.
Blessed Be,
Eirwen
